Voices of Hope

Fiona Hallum
A Hospice is where magic and miracles happen—a place our family relies on and feels privileged to have. It's where I, as a caregiver, find respite and peace of mind, knowing we are safe and surrounded by love from staff and other families.

Jeremy Williams
Visiting Bear Cottage with the Fowler family allowed me to witness firsthand the hospice in action, caring for families facing the immense challenge of living with a terminally ill child. This fuels my passion for Rio's Legacy, aiming to provide essential care and a second home for these families in need.

Rio's Legacy is making a difference to families who need emergency accommodation at the hospital and we are so very grateful.

Sally Bowrey
As a parent, I deeply admire how the Fowler family has transformed an unimaginable loss into a legacy, striving to assist countless families nationwide during their most challenging times

Barbara Godwin
There’s a great need for more paediatric hospices and for a stronger presence of Palliative care in our paediatric hospitals. There is opportunity to dispel fear like we experienced through early engagement and education and to proactively support people through their child’s last days, in their grief and beyond

Mark Ferguson
To have endured such a loss and responded in such an amazing way is truly inspiring. Ryan and Karen have worked tirelessly to ensure that Rio's name now holds deep meaning for many families across Australia.

This is a critical and unfortunately an underserviced health area in Australia. Given the number of children requiring this care, we should have more hospices and we only have three across the nation right now. We’re falling behind and are failing to support the children and families who desperately require care

Matthew Van Hoek
The positive impact that Bear Cottage has had on Matthew's wellbeing, as well as on us, is immeasurable. Our hope is that in the near future, other hospices can offer families like ours the same vital support that has been integral to Matthew's ongoing care.

Billy Smith
I support Rio's Legacy because these beautiful children and their families deserve to have a voice, deserve to be celebrated, and deserve support. It's our responsibility to help fulfil these essential needs.
