2024 City2Surf
Rio’s Legacy have teamed up with the Giants Foundation and Mounties Care with the goal of raising as much money as possible to help build Australia’s fourth children’s hospice.

325kms across 7 days from Canberra to Sydney before finishing at the City2Surf.

Rio Challenge '23 Brisbane to Sydney
From 18 September to 3 October, Rio’s Legacy will run 13 million steps from Brisbane to Sydney.

2022 City2Surf
Rio’s Legacy has teamed up with City2Surf to help fundraise and support children with a life – limiting condition and their families. We ranked in the top ten charities out of 300 and raised over $65k.
2021
1,100km challenge raised over $122k
Rio’s Challenge of Hope Across WA saw Rio’s Legacy complete a 21 day (consecutively) run and ride challenge, covering over 1,100kms to raise funds and awareness for the first – ever WA children’s hospice and only the 4th children’s hospice in Australia to be built in Swanbourne (Perth), Western Australia. The challenge raised over $122,802.10 for this build and to support children with a life – limiting condition and their families…
2020
Rio’s Charity studied in Yr11 curriculum
Rio’s story and the charity (starting in Term 3 2020) will be studied at school as part of Catholic Education’s Year 11 unit (Stage 6) Studies in Catholic Thought. It will be rolled out across 9 NSW Catholic High Schools in the Illawarra / Wollongong area (Diocese) including – St Joseph’s Catholic High School (Albion Park), Holy Spirit College (Bellambi), St Francis Catholic College (Edmondson Park), Magdalene Catholic College (Narellan), St John the Evangelist Catholic High School (Nowra), Corpus Christi Catholic High School (Oak Flats), St Benedict’s Catholic College (Oran Park), John Therry Catholic College (Rosemeadow) and Mount Carmel Catholic College (Varroville).
2020
Rio's ISO Marathon Challenge - Toowoomba Grammar School
Rio’s Legacy completed The ISO Marathon challenge, with 141 laps (42.2km) of the Toowoomba Grammar School Grounds. The run raised over $13k for Toowoomba Hospital Services towards the purchase of a ventilator and to provide medical attention and care for patients to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
2019
2,388km charity ride gained State Government support
Rio’s Legacy completed a 2,388km charity ride from Adelaide to Sydney, via Melbourne and Hobart. Rio’s Ride took 17 days (consecutively) and generated much support and following from State Governments and local groups, as it passed through 4 states (SA, VIC, TAS and NSW).
The Hon Steven Marshall (Premier of South Australia), The Hon Daniel Andrews (Premier of Victoria), The Hon Will Hodgman (Premier of Tasmania) and former NSW Premier Mike Baird supported the ride. Over $60K was generated through the ride, with important contacts and links made with State Governments in building more hospices to care for children with a terminal illness nationally.
2018
Rio’s Run raised $54k
Rio’s Legacy completed a 1027Km charity run from Melbourne to Sydney to raise funds and awareness for the plight of terminally ill children. Rio’s Run took 26 days (consecutive) and averaged 42KM a day in efforts to generate support from local communities as it passed through many towns across NSW and Victoria. The run raised over $54K to support terminally ill children.

Live Auction raised $40k
The charity held an online and live auction night called “Night in Rio”, which generated $40K.
